About Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Supporting endangered Species

Ol Pejeta Conservancy is an award-winning, world renowned wildlife conservation organization. The establishment is responsible for creating sanctuary for animals such as chimpanzee, and protecting the Black Rhino from poachers.

Working at a landscape level, the Ol Pejeta Conservancy aims to secure habitats for the purposes of wildlife conservation. Our main objective therefore is to ensure that all activities undertaken in the Conservancy do not compromise species biodiversity.

Management of wildlife in a closed ecosystem such as Ol Pejeta is of paramount importance. The research department therefore provides timely and relevant information that helps make decisions regarding wildlife. Continuous research and monitoring of key species ensures informed decisions on habitats and wildlife species are made to secure habitats and conserve the environment.

Ol Pejeta particularly works to conserve the highly endangered black rhino and is now the Largest Black Rhino Sanctuary in East Africa. Moreover, the Conservancy is home to southern white rhinos and the critically endangered northern white rhinos.

As an integral part of the Laikipia/Samburu ecosystem, Ol Pejeta is also home to the “Big Five” and carries one of the highest wildlife densities in Kenya. In an attempt to ensure some connectivity with the greater Liakipia landscape, there are corridors along the Conservancy’s northern boundary ensuring free movement of all animals, especially the large herbivores such as elephants. Predators are also closely monitored as they play a crucial role in the ecosystem of controlling prey densities.

How is WeWi involved? How can you help?

SOL is a wonderful machine for research and work in the great outdoors. It’s used for many adventures and we saw it perfectly fit to help Ol Pejeta achieve it’s wonderful goals. Their goals require a lot of hard work such as surveying and cataloging wildlife. SOL laptops provide Ol Pejeta professionals key access to software, archival information and data needed for field work.

We are also accepting donations from people just like you to help us ship more computers to the Ol Pejeta. When you purchase you SOL, please donate, if you can, towards a computer. Each donation, small or large counts and we are simply giving SOL away at cost so that your money is spent well.

In addition, we will match your donations and will use those fund to help them achieve what we can all wish for – a habitat for all life forms where they are not hunted, killed or die from disease.
